Setup>Shipping>Carriers and Methods

Use the Shipping Methods screen to identify the shippers and service levels your company will utilize. You must define at least one shipping method. See Defining shipping methods in Setup for procedures.

You must assign a Hotkey/Code between 1-3 characters for each shipping method. This can be a simple 1, 2, 3, 4, U, UPS, etc.

Shipping methods appear in the Order window in alpha-numeric sequence based on the assigned Hotkey. You may want to keep this in mind as you assign hotkeys so that your most common shipping methods will appear at the top of the list.

Since this information prints on the invoice, type a description that will be meaningful to the customer, such as USPS: Parcel Post or UPS: Ground.

If you offer multiple shipping methods per shipper, create a description for each; for example, UPS: Ground, UPS: Next Day Air, and UPS: 2nd Day Air.

The list of service levels offered by the selected shipper is displayed in the right pane.

These charges are used in conjunction with shipping and handling formulas that include "M" – Method of Shipping. Here you can specify specific additional or replacement charges for selected shipping methods.

Surcharge... With Amount. Enter amount to be surcharged for this shipping method in addition to any other applicable S&H charges.

Replace... With Amount. Enter amount to be surcharged for this shipping method in place of applicable S&H charges.

If you select a formula from the Use Formula list, it is added to the S&H formula assigned to the price category/shipping method combination, if any. In this case, you need to determine if the pricing associated with that formula is to be assessed once, or for each package in the order.

IMPORTANT: Formulas should be assigned to either shipping methods or price categories, but not both.

If desired, select the Generate Shipment Confirmations from CMS check box. (Some shippers, such as UPS, can also generate shipment confirmations, so you may not want to duplicate that.)

Note: This must also be enabled in Setup>Fulfillment>Fulfillment Options>Email Confirmations.
